A meeting of the Board of Trustees was held this date at 4:00 p.m. at the Library with Trustees Clarke, Little, Merry and Shea present and Trustee Yale present and presiding. Ms. Jackson was present.  Mayor Driscoll and Trustee Buckley were absent.

Approval of Minutes of November 19, 2009                UNANIMOUS

Current Library Use and Financial reports were distributed.  Ms. Jackson shared with the Trustees a number of thank you cards from the staff for their holiday gift.

Ms. Jackson reported on the library’s boiler.  In November a plumber made temporary repairs to the boiler with the hope of it making it through this year’s heating season.  The boiler definitely needs to be replaced.  She reported that she and Mayor Driscoll discussed the boiler and the Mayor felt that city funds could be used to replace the boiler.
Ms. Jackson also reported that architect Bob Farley was working on drawing up bid documents for replacement of the boiler.  The boiler is thirty years old and it had been moved from a different location during the 1987 renovation.

Ms. Jackson reported on a program the Children’s Room was doing with the fifth grade at the Witchcraft Heights School.  Cheryl Opolski and Courtney Davis are visiting the school and working with the teachers to have all the fifth graders read the same book.  The library is donating a book to each fifth grader.  Cheryl and Courtney will visit the school and conduct a group book discussion when all the children have read the book.

Ms. Jackson also reported on the two successful in-house book clubs the Children’s Room has been holding.

Meeting adjourned at 5:00PM.
